Wondering what team heads into this week’s Class C Boys’ State Basketball Tournament in Great Falls as the favorite?
There’s plenty to choose from but if consistency has anything to do with it then it’s the Manhattan Christian Eagles.
Its program has earned a State C berth the past eight seasons!
The Eagles placed fourth in 2015, sixth in 2016 (losing the opener to MonDak 63-60 in three overtimes!), second in 2017 (losing to Arlee 71-67), second in 2018 (losing to Arlee 66-58), first in 2019 (defeating Arlee 83-51), fifth in 2020 and third in 2021.
The boys opened the 4-day event on Wednesday, March 9, when West Division champion Manhattan Christian (23-0, 1532-816, 66.6-35.4) faced East runnersup Fairview Warriors (20-4, 1217-974, 50.7-40.5) at 3 p.m.
South Divisional winner Powder River County (Broadus) Hawks (22-2, 1528-982, 63.6-40.9) battled North runnersup Belt Huskies (20-4, 1335-882,
55.6-36.7) at 4:30 p.m.
