Scobey To Run At Frazer And Culbertson Meets

 

The cross country teams of Scobey High School went from small meet to big meet in the span of 24 hours last week and have plenty of good things to show for it, particularly sophomore Mya Green.

The Town and Country Meet in Circle Friday, September 16, was the small meet as host Circle High School welcomed the Spartans in what was a dual meet between the two.

Scobey sophomore Mya Green placed first in 21:13 in a field of 14, which is a new meet record. She passed Powder River County’s Rachel Rassmussen’s previous low time of 22:53 established in 2021.

Mia Handran was eight seconds behind her teammate in the runnersup spot with a 21:21 followed by Oli Leininger in sixth (25:20), Joy Williams sev enth (26:38), Danielle Ca hill eighth (26:54), Grace Williams 10th (28:50), Hayley Hersel 11th (29:19), Leah Ridley 13th (30:00) and Sammi Lundquist 14th (31:29).

The team standings had Scobey with nine points and Circle 12.

In the boys’ high schoolrace the Spartans won by a team score of 6-to-22.

Scobey captured places 1-2-3-4-5 in a field of nine with senior Masen Green leading the way with a 19:48. Following in plac es 2-5 were Kaz Holum (22:01.0), Carson Fishell (22:01.32), Tristan Lekvold (22:01.50) and Asher Boze (22:44) with Keadon Boze (24.44) in 8th.

The middle school races for those in grades 5-8 fea tured Scobey and three runners from Circle-Redwater.
