IT WAS RACE NUMBER 40
IT WAS RACE NUMBER 40 of the 25th annual Drag Races sponsored by the Borderline Snow Chasers (top photo) when this youngster decided he wanted to get a little closer to the action. This year’s races, held on a gor -geous Saturday, January 7, afternoon (26 degrees with a 4 miles per hour wind making it feel like 21 when the races began), were held at a new location this year just north of Scobey on the west side of Highway 13 near the Bjarko place. Above, the oldest racer in this year’s event, Scobey’s Kenny Benson (SHS ‘78), had the fastest start of the day and the best wheelie of the day. At bottom, young Hazen Dobson appears to be enjoying his “sprint” down the track, heading in a northwesterly direction.\n Casey Handy of Flaxville, was the winner of the 2023 Snowmobile drawing, held at the steak fry after the rac -es.— Middle photo by Jodi Benson; other two, mike
