FOOTBALL — Soley CFL: We're going all Canadian Football League in this week's column, starting with CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie's 2022 report at the 109th Grey Cup Festival in Regina a couple of months ago. Despite increased scoring, CFL attendance averaged just over 21,000 fans league-wide in 2022. That's a drop from 22,916 in 2019 and 24,644 in 2017. The Toronto Argonauts averaged 11,875 in the stands this season but drew a season-high 21,331 spectators to their 34-27 East Division win over Montreal at BMO Field [the 11,875 is a pathetic figure considering the Toronto metro area population is 6.3 million!].
