BASKETBALL— Brock rocks: Brian Michelotti, Executive Director of the Montana High School Association and Commissioner of the Montana Officials Association, announced this year's National Federation of State High School Association Officials of the Year for Montana. Earning the award for girls' basketball was Brock Copenhaver of Wolf Point, who has called many games in the Scobey School gymnasium.

FOOTBALL — The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawk speaks: While the Leader was searching for cool/interesting prep basketball team names for North Dakota high schools, with the report appearing in this column in the June 29, 2023 issue, it came across a biography of the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawk, which, unfortunately, replaced the former UND Fighting Sioux mascot.
