Lady Spartan Win Streak Grows To Six Following Weekend Wins
The Scobey High School girls’ varsity basketball team went hawk hunting over the weekend and filled its limit.
What is not limited, for the time being, is just how high the program’s current winning streak of six games can grow.
It began last season at the East C Divisional Tournament in Wolf Point’s Wolves’ Den Gym. After losing to Plentywood 50-45 in the semifinals the Spartans defeated MonDak 3924 in a loser-out game and Culbertson 43-39 in the consolation contest. When Plentywood lost 46-44 to North Country in the championship game, prohibiting the Spartans to challenge the Wildcats, Scobey’s season ended in third place but the streak did not. Thus far in the 2023-24 season the non-loss run has grown to six, with victories over the Harlowton-Ryegate-Judith Gap Engineers and Garfield County (Jordan) Mustangs at the Coach Connors Classic tourney in Miles City December 1-2 and against the Froid-Lake Redhawks and Powder River County (Broadus) Hawks at last weekend’s Scobey Tournament.
Scobey travels to Dodson Friday, December 15, for a scheduled 6 p.m. conference-game tip-off. If the Spartans depart Dodson with a victory a 7-game win streak will be on the line Saturday, December 16, on their home co...
