D.C. Sheriff Vines Gives Resignation Notice
Tuesday, January 2, Daniels County Sheriff Mona Vines gave verbal notice that she would be resigning her position as Sheriff /Coroner. On Thursday, she handed in her written resignation letter with a final work day of January 16. She was appointed Sheriff approximately nine months ago.
She told Commissioners she has accepted a patrol position with the City of Glasgow Police Department.
She said she will be making $7 per hour more than she does as Sheriff and will be getting a $6,000 signing bonus.
Commissioners will appoint an interim Sheriff to fill the vacancy until December 31, 2024.
The Sheriff’s position will be on the ballot this spring and fall to fill out two years, 2025-2026, of the unexpired term of Sheriff Duane Anderson’s who resigned in April.
