Many Games Postponed Due To Very Cold Temps

The weather outside was frightful—minus 25 degrees with wind-chill factor at minus-47 at the 4:25 p.m. opening tip-off—but the conditions inside were delightful for the Scobey boys’ basketball team upsetting the top-ranked Lustre Christian Lions 53-43.

Tipping off at 4:25 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Scobey School large gym before a rough-count crowd of 313 fans, the Spartans, at the time the second-ranked Class C team in the state per 406mtsports.com’s poll, trailed nearly the entire first half. The exceptions were: a 3-all tie; a 20-18 Scobey lead on Braxton Wolfe’s top-of-the-key three with 2:55 left until halftime; a tie at 20 on Prestyn Klatt’s two free throws; Bram Handran’s off-balance shot with 53 seconds until the half making it 22-20; Terran Joseph’s fast-break layup knotting it at 22-22 going into halftime.
