Josie A. Nash 1926 – 2024

Josie Annie (Jensen) Nash was born August 27, 1926 in Sheridan County, MT to Truels and Christine (Hanson) Jensen of Archer, MT. She was the 6th of 8 children born into that family, a full-blooded Dane. She passed away in her home on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Josie was 97 years old.

During the years of the Homestead Act, her parents immigrated from Denmark to America to make a claim on land south of Redstone. Later, the family moved to Archer where they farmed and raised livestock for many years. Josie knew how to do chores and milk cows as well as helping with whatever else needed to be done.

While attending a dance at the Lee School House, Josie met her future husband, Orvill Nash. She was impressed by him because he was a good dancer and he had a car. In the meantime, she finished her education at the Redstone High School, being on the honor roll, playing drums in the band, competing in sports, voted in as class president, and graduating as salutatorian of her class.
