Younger Spartans Make Clean Sweep Of Fairview Invite
It was a clean sweep for the Scobey Spartans during their recent visit to the Fairview Middle School Track and Field Meet.
Held Saturday, April 26, the young Lady Spartans piled up 134 points, more than tripling second-place Circle-Redwater.
On the boys’ side, the Spartans earned 83 points, 21 more than runnersup Fairview.
Chloe Handran (long and triple jumps, short relay) and McKenna Nieskens (400, 800, short relay) were triple winners on the day for the Lady Spartans while Halle Cromwell (short relay), Lana Mason (short relay), Emery Rouse (200) and Ava Stentoft (shot put) were single victors. The Scobey girls produced 25 personal records in the meet.
For the Scobey boys Reid Cromwell struck gold on a trio of occasions (800, 1600, medley relay), Teagan Fishell (both relays) and Liam Leininger (both relays) were both double winners and Quinn Axtman, Tate Johnsrud and Sebastian McGowan each earned victory as members of the relays. The Scobey crew established 19 personal records in Fairview.
The young Spartans, coached by Scott McGowan and Kaitlin Switzer, are scheduled to host their own meet in Wolf Point Saturday, May 4, with the first field events starting at 9 a.m. They wrap up the 2024 season on Wednesday, May 8, at the District 3C Meet in Glasgow starting at 9 a.m.
