Daniels County Fire Department was on the go over the weekend (Sat., Sun., July 27-28), responding to four calls in a 45-hour span of time.

The first call of the weekend occurred at 1:48 p.m. Saturday when a prairie fire started about five miles southwest of Scobey. Out in the middle of nowhere, it burned 291 acres.

“While mopping it up we got called off of it, relying on the farmers that were there,” said Daniels County Fire Department Chief Neil Holum.
