City Business . . .

Taken in part from the unapproved minutes of the regular meeting of City Council, City of Scobey, Montana held Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall.

REGULAR MEETING Mayor Morgan Lekvold called the meeting to order with council members Seth Axtman, Niki Larson, Greg Crowder and Brian French present. Also, in attendance were Bob Haugo, Matt Stentoft, Tammi Fladager, Sheriff Clint Lowe, TAC Officer Shauna Lowe, City Attorney Ben Fosland, PWD Steve Berreth, Perry Wolfe (8:51) and Clerk Sonya M. South land. Public Hearings

Lekvold opened the follow -ing hearings at 8:59 a.m. No written comments were submitted; • 2024-2025 Budget, SID #18, SID #19, Permissive Medical Levy, and Sewer Rate Increase; Mayor asked for comments concerning each hearing, hearing none, the public hearings were closed at 9:03 a.m.

Mayor Lekvold re-opened the regular Council meeting.

Public Comment – Bob Haugo, chairman for the Airport Commission reported there are five members on the Airport Commission Board, three county appointments and two city appointments, one city appointment mem ber Jesse Cole has resigned. Chairman Haugo stated the logical choice for a new city appointment would be Charles Trower but Bob was informed Charles cannot be appointed because he takes a monthly wage of $163.75 as airport manager. Bob asked the County Attor ney for an opinion whether or not Charles could be a board member and employee. County Attorney Olson thought maybe this could be worked around. Bob asked City Attorney Fosland for his opinion, without doing any research, Ben stated the law does state a person cannot be on the board that is supervising the job that person performs. Ben asked for some time to research.

• PWD Berreth reported they are working on alleys and repairing washed out alleys. Some alleys will require ...
