Just like they did the week prior in Dickinson, North Dakota, the Scobey High School cross country teams are scheduled to compete against a good number of runners they have not ran against this season—or ever before in some cases.

The Spartans are headed to Cowtown for the Miles City Stampede on Saturday, October 5, with the initital race scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Along with the Spartans teams scheduled to compete include: Billings Central Catholic, Custer County (Miles City), Dawson County (Glendive), Hardin, Laurel, Lockwood and Sidney in Class A; Baker, Colstrip and Lodge Grass in Class B; Lame Deer, Melstone, Northern Cheyenne, Powder River County (Broadus), Saint Labre Catholic and Terry.

Last week the Spartans competed in two meets over a three-day span, starting with the 55th annual Frazer Invitational at the Clark’s Hill Course three miles west of Frazer along the Indian Highway.

In the varsity girls’ race (5,000 meters/3.1 miles) Scobey's Mya Green finished in second place, 23 seconds behind winner Brynne Hill of the Richey-Lambert Fusion. Freshman Hazel Sones was next for the Lady Spartans in 16th followed by senior Kazee Trower 27th, Taizah Hersel 29th, sophomore Shelby Cole 34th, senior Grace Williams 35th and sophomore Ashtynn Fladager 43rd.

For the varsity boys, which Harlem’s Ethan Walker was the winner in 16:41.05 in a field of 65 competitors, senior Kaz Holum placed 15th, junior Tristan Lekvold 16th, sophomore Carter Lekvold 20th, eighth grader Delbert Sones 23rd, senior Carson Fishell 25th and sop...
