FOOTBALL — CATS! The MSU Bobcats have a very cool acronym in this 2024 season. It is CATS, which stands for Character, Accountability, Toughness and State. How many forfeits thus far? As the Montana High School Association’s (MHSA) regular season comes to an end this weekend (Sat., Oct. 26), one question is how many forfeits have occurred thus far? Take note that the MHSA awards just one point for a forfeit to the team that did not forfeit, not two points as most would expect. If the forfeit occurs before the opening kickoff of the game, it is recorded as a 1-0 final score, not 2-0 as many (including the person writing this column) would have believed. If a forfeit occurs during a game, the final score is not 1-0 or 2-0 as most would assume (including the person writing this column), the final score is what is on the scoreboard when the forfeit occurs.
