Scobey Footballers Looking to Ground High-Flying Eagles
The test Friday night for the Scobey Spartans at a cold Plainsmen Field was simple: win and they are in or lose and snooze during the playoffs.
The locals lads faced the Carter County (Ekalaka) Bulldogs to determine which of the two teams would secure the fourth and final playoff spot in the East C Division.
Let’s just say time is running out for Scobey fans to book their hotel reservations in Bozeman, where the Spartans will stay Friday night in order to make the 17-mile drive west Saturday morning to face the Manhattan Christian Eagles (8-0, 417-93, 52.1-11.6) in the first round of the playoffs.

The Eagles are in their second season of Class C 8-man after a long cooperative agreement to play with the Class C Manhattan Tigers came to an end.
During their inaugural season of 2023 in the 8-man ranks Manhattan Christian (6-3, 372-211, 41.3-23.4) lost its initial game 42-6 against Lone Peak. Following were three straight victories against Cascade (5214), Seeley-Swan (56-8) and Drummond-Philipsburg (50-26). After a 26-18 loss to Simms, they strung together another 3-game win streak against Sheridan (547), at Deer Lodge (72-0) and at Choteau (36-24) before losing to Ennis 64-28 to end the season.
In this 2024 campaign the Eagles are flying high into the postseason as the top-seeded team in the Class C 8-man South Division. They kicked off the season at home against Twin Bridges and were 36-8 victors. Following, in order played, were wins against Sheridan (52-24), Saint Labre (64-7), Park City (62-8) and Lone Peak (54-0), were idle in week six, handled a good Drummond-Philipsburg team 34-14 on their home field, defeated...
