BASKETBALL — State C in Helena: In the November 28, 2024 issue at the top of this column was the man who grew up in Helena, Montana talking about the Class C Boys’ State Tournament in Helena. It was known on this end it was held there for quite a while but the Leader wanted to know the exact years. It took some research here and there for a few days but the answer finally popped up. The State C Tournament was played in the Helena High School gym from 1957-59 and in the Carroll College Physical Education Center from 1970-80. While searching for the aforementioned information the Leader came across some interesting team names from the 1967 State C Tournament held in Helena, including the Dutton Cardinals, Stanford Wolves and Willow Creek Broncs.
