Highlights of December 16 Commissioner Meeting
Mikel Lund presided over his last regular Daniels County Commissioner’s meeting after serving ten years and two months in District 3. He started his duties as commissioner in November of 2014 when he was appointed to fill out the remainder of the year after Jamey Snare resigned in April. Snare had just taken on a new job that did not allow him time to fulfill his elected duties. Snare had been elected on the Democrat ticket so the Democrat party was summoned to submit a list of names as potential appointees. An appointment did not develop.
Lund filed on the Republican ticket in the November 2014 election to fill out the four year balance of Snare’s term. After winning the general election he was appointed to the board in November to fill out the year and then began serving the four years in January of 2015.
Lund successfully ran again in 2018 for another six year term which ends December 31 of this year. This past year he has served as Chairman of the board. He decided to not seek re-election this last November. Republican Tammi Fladager was elected in November of 2024 and was sworn in at the December 16 meeting. She will take office January 1, joining commissioners Gary Linder and Michel Thievin.
