It is big-game time for the Scobey boys’ basketball team as the final one-third of the 2024-25 regular season begins 42 miles east on Highway 5.
The Spartans (8-0 3C, 12-0, 849-403, 70.7-33.5) head into a very competitive matchup on Thursday, January 30, at the Plentywood Wildcats (9-0 2C, 11-1, 811386, 67.5-32.1) with tip-off time scheduled for 7:30 p.m. If one can’t be there live and in person for all the fast-paced action tune into Scobey radio station KCGM 95.7 FM’s live broadcast.
The two met on Friday, December 13, in Scobey, the third game of the season for both squads. Each brought undefeated records into the contest and by the conclusion of the first quarter the Spartans led 19-13. From there the Scobey boys increased their lead to 42-26 at halftime, 60-46 through three quarters and 83-61 for a final score. Since then the Wildcats of head coach Chad Solberg have reeled off nine consecutive victories and all of them were blowouts, pounding District 2C opponents by margins of 44, 47, 46, 21, 46, 51, 54, 52 and 48, a 9-game average margin of victory of 45.4.
Another significant statistic concerning the Wildcats is since week three their defensive points-pergame average has continued to decline the past six games—39.8, 38.5, 36.7, 34.4, 32.9 and 32.1!
