If there’s somethin’ need fixin’ on the basketball court Who you gonna call? Streakbusters!

If there’s something to win And they know they can do it Who you gonna call? Streakbusters!

In the most apparent way possible, the Scobey girls’ varsity basketball team had finally decided enough is enough, and it did something about it.

The second “it” mentioned is the North Country Mavericks girls’ basketball program, an extremely classy act that resides in Phillips County, where Saco and Whitewater schools are located, and Valley County, where Hinsdale hangs its hat.

So close, yet still so far away!

It was that game in Whitewater giving the Mavericks their 70th straight victory, surpassing the previous Class C mark of 69 consecutive wins by the Richey Royals. They were coached by Clarence “Butch” Zieske (SHS ‘69), with the streak lasting from 1999 to 2002.

The 71st and 72nd straight victories by the Lady Mavs occurred at the end of this regular sea...
