Early-spring weatherwas not a problem when the Scobey and Wolf Point track and field varsity teams cohosted the first meet of the season for both schools.

They stayed indoors. The Arc, located on the northeast side of Williston, North Dakota, was the site of the Saturday, March 22, meet, a huge indoor complex with a quaint track and field set up. In other words, early spring weather conditions were not a factor.

The winning team in the girls’ competition was the co-host Wolf Point Wolves, who put together a 121-point performance, outdistancing the Fiarview Warriors by 35 points. The Lustre Christian Lions placed third with 51 while the co-host Scobey Spartans were one point behind in fourth.

First-place winners for the Spartans were senior Mady Willis, who won the 60-meter dash in 8.63 seconds and 60-meter hurdles in 8.11 seconds. Senior Mya Green also earned a top spot by capturing the 1,600-meter run in 6:16.53, which was just under 22 seconds ahead of Lustre Christian freshman Sidney Klatt.

On the boys’ side, the Culbertson Cowboys captured the top spot with 82 points with the Plentywood Wildcats (78) and Fairview Warriors (75) not far behind. The Lustre Christian boys finished in first with 58 points.

Scobey’s Konner Oller won the 400-meter dash by less than a second, edging Culbertson’s Harrison Green 58.04-to-58.90.

The highest finisher for the Lustre Christian boys was sophomore Prestyn Klatt, who had just over an 8-second margin against Benjamin Crosby of Trinity Christian of Williston when placing first.

This week’s action is scheduled for Scottie Field where the Glasgow Invitational is set to be held on Saturday, March 29.
