MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DANIELS COUNTY, MONTANA, HELD FEBRUARY 3, 4, AND 18, 2025.
REGULAR MEETING
February 3, 9 o’clock a.m.
The Board met in regular session, Commissioners Linder, Thievin and Fladager were present with the clerk.
The meeting was called to order.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Commissioner Thievin made a motion to approve the agenda, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.
Commissioner Thievin made a motion to approve January 2025 minutes, with corrections, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.
The Board discussed the issue with waiving penalty and interest on tax statements.
The Board approved payroll for January 31, 2025.
The Board approved JV#’s 8670–8673.
The Board reviewed the officer reports from the Justice Court, Clerk of District Court, Clerk and Recorder, and Treasurer and Sheriff for January 2025.
John Bach, Interstate Engineering, met with the Board regarding the wants and needs for radio equipment, fire or ambulance, and building structure. They will look for any grants that could be available.
Michael Bergeron, Road Supervisor, joined the meeting with John Bach still in attendance. John said the U.S. Border Patrol will not be any help with finances for fixing the Spear bridge. The Board asked about doing a structural evaluation on the courthouse and John said he will have a task order drawn up for the structural evaluation.
John Bach said the planning board is setting the public hearing for adopting the growth policy for February 18, 2025.
Michael Bergeron, Road Supervisor, mention that they have a violation with the State on reclaiming the Truax gravel pit. He inquired what to do with obsolete equipment.
The Board reviewed the Emergency Preparedness Grant for DES services. Commissioner Fladager made a motion to approve the grant, Commissioner Thievin seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.
Julia Laurie, Treasurer, presented three tax corrections on property owned by Bruce Dighans. The Department of Revenue rebilled the real estate taxes from 2022, 2023 and 2024 as there were tax exemptions on the property that weren’t taken off when Bruce purchased the property from the City of Scobey.
