JH Spartans Compete In Huge Track & Field Meet In Sunrise City
The Scobey Spartans girls’ and boys’ junior high track and field teams took a journey to a huge meet Saturday, April 5, in Sidney, held at Swanson Field at the Lowman-Walton Sports Complex.
Just how huge one might be wondering?
Put it this way: there were
118 competitors in the girls’ seventh-grade 100-meter dash; 108 seventh grade boys’ in the same event; 91 young ladies in the seventhgrade girls 200-meter dash;
85 boys in the...
You get the picture. It was a biggin’! Also big was the Scobey eighth grade boys placing second out of 18 teams scoring and the Lady Spartans girls’ team placing third out of 20 teams by posting points a very respectable 46 points, only winner Washington of Miles City and runnersup Jordan finishing higher.
In such a huge meet, Scobey even had a few athletes capturing individuals championships, including the tightest event of the day. That would be eighth grader Braylon Henderson in the
800-meter run, he nipping Washington’s (Miles City) Elias Samuelson 2:29.08-to-
2:29.09 in the 2-lapper.
That is a gap of one-hundredth of a second!
Others earning first-place finishes were:
• Scobey eighth graders Halle Cromwell in the long jump and Emery Rouse and Tate Johnsrud in the
400-meter dashes;
• Scobey’s eighth grade
4x400-meter relay of Quinn Axtman, Reid Cromwell, Tyce Holum and the aforementioned Johnsrud;
• Lustre’s seventh grade
800 medley relay team
(100-100-200-400 meters) of Gunner Damboise, Coleman Hikemann, Liam Reyneke and Josef Olfert, Here are the results of the Sidney Middle School Invitational Meet and holy moly there are a bunch of them, including all of the first-place finishers and of the athletes from schools in Scobey and Lustre.
