The Knights of Columbus (KC’s) and Council of Catholic Women (CCW) at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Scobey, have been making its famous, chokecherry syrup since 1992. The groups took over the Thresherman’s Pancake Breakfast at Pioneer Town during Pioneer Days that year. Of the past 29 years, there were four years that no syrup was made— three years were because there was enough from previous year, and in 2020 the COVID pandemic prevented them from having the breakfast.

So, over 25 years, the KC’s and CCW made 1,180 quarts of syrup using 788 quarts of chokecherry juice from about 6,304 pounds of berries and 1,650 lbs. of sugar!
