Green Is Not Green When It Comes To X-Country Finishes

Has Placed 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 5th & 1st

It took six meets but Mya Green finally finished on top.

Granted, it was a smaller meet held in Fairview Sat urday, October 2, while 140 miles down the road in Miles City much of the usual weekly competition - Glasgow, Poplar, Sidney and Wolf Point in particular - were competing in the Custer County Invitational held on the local golf course.

Green, a freshman, achieved her initial solo victory against high school competition versus runners from Circle, Culbertson, Fairview, Frazer, Malta, MonDak (Westby-Grenora, N.D.), Nashua, Plentywood, and Trenton, North Dakota. Her time, the fastest she has run this season, was 20:04.81 on a 5,000-meter dirt-road flat course on the west side of the Yellow stone River with Sundheim Park as the start/finish line. Green’s closest competitor, runnersup Maggie Clarys of Trenton, North Dakota, was a whopping 1:45.57 behind her.

Preceding her initial first-place finish in a high school race were runs in Wolf Point (2nd, 20:55.0, field of 43), Poplar (3rd, 20:28.51, 69), Scobey (2nd, 21:37.7, 43), Glasgow (6th, 21:09.09, 59) and Frazer (3rd, 20:43.40, 47).

Two of her main com petitors thus far this season have been Plentywood ju nior Annie Kaul and senior Iris McKean of Glasgow, who both ran in Miles City on Saturday....
