Younger Spartan Track & Fielders Start In Sidney

 

The junior high Scobey Spartans as well as the Lustre athletes competed in their first track and field meet of the season Friday, April 8, in the Sidney Invitational.

The Scobey seventh and eighth grade Scobey boys both placed sixth. The Lustre boys also placed sixth while the eighth grade boys

finished in eighth.

For the girls, the Scobey eighth graders placed sixth and the seventh graders did not score.

Nine Scobey athletes earned first-place status.

Olivia Leininger captured the eighth-grade girls 100-meter hurdles in 20.64. Leininger, Kennadi Cromwell, Ivy Cole and Avery Wolfe won the 4x100 relay in 58.84, nearly one-half second faster than the Washington (Miles City) crew.

For the boys, seventh grader Torsten Lamb took the 100-meter hurdles in 22.04, edging Williston, North Dakota’s Julian Gant by eight-tenths of a second. In the 800-meter medley relay (100-100-200-400) eighth graders Holten Girard, Konner Oller and Evan Tande and seventh grader Kolten Machart nipped the Washington (Glendive) quartet 1:55.50-to-1:56.42.
