Surrounded by friends and family, Terry Lee Mohn, known by many as T-bone, passed away January 3, 2024 at the Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. He experienced complications from cardiac failure which resulted in a major stroke. Terry was born July 27, 1952 in Scobey, Montana; the eldest son of Ferris and Irene (Goulet) Mohn. He graduated from Flaxville High School in 1970 and attended MSU Bozeman. He returned to the Flaxville area to farm with his father. Terry and his dad eventually formed a partnership that they named T & F Mohn Farms. Terry loved farming and proudly carried on the Mohn tradition of outstanding agricultural practices. Terry met his life partner, Jo Allee, and they spent over 33 years together. He first became "Papa" to Jo's daughter, Jill, and then to her family. When it was time for him to retire from farming, he and Jo became snowbirds. They purchased a home in Mesa, Arizona, and after harvest they headed south to enjoy the warm weather, their beautiful home on the Red Mountain Golf course, and frequent rounds of golf with buddies. Come spring, they happily headed back to their prairie country home. Jo’s passing in 2018 was a big loss in Terry’s life, but he continued to carry on his Montana to Arizona seasonal lifestyle. Everyone who knew Terry knew how much he enjoyed golf. He really liked the Scobey Golf Course. He looked forward to the Friday Old Man’s League, loved that no tee time was necessary, and praised the pristine condition of the course(most of the time). He even got a hole in one on hole # 6, and there were actual witnesses. His favorite place to hang out was the Bum Steer in Flaxville. He enjoyed checking crops, coffee hour - especially with his cousin Gary, frequent phone consults with Tanner and the Furulis, fire pit gatherings, watching football and baseball on a big screen tv, and keeping up on local, national, and international news. All who knew and loved him will miss him dearly. Terry was known for his special sense of humor, clever remarks and comebacks. He was a master at creating descriptive and somewhat accurate nicknames for people he knew. For many years he was the volunteer manager of Orville Cemetery. This was just one example of the generosity he displayed in the communities where he lived. Another example is the scholarship he set up at MSU-Northern for students from northeast Montana who study agriculture and diesel tech. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Ferris and Irene Mohn, and his brothers, Richard and James. He is survived by “the kids”, Jill Baker and Tanner Manternach; Jill’s children, Rayne and Eli; many caring Brenden, Mohn, and Goulet cousins; his sister-like pal Bonnie Fladager and her husband Willard; plus an abundance of other treasured friends in Montana and in Arizona. A celebration of Terry’s life is tentatively set to take place June 1, 2024, at the Old Orville Cemetery and at his beloved home in the Orville community south of Flaxville.
