Scobey Stingrays Place Fourth At State Swim Meet In Class AA
The Scobey Stingrays should be extremely pleased with their overall team performance at last Saturday’s and Sunday’s Montana Federation of Swimmers State Meet in Sidney.
Held July 27-28 in Montana’s Sunrise City, they placed fourth in Class AA, which is the highest level a team can reach.
A few of the highlights include:
• The mixed 8 and under relay team consisting of Edwin Fishell, Harper Hansen, Weston Hardy and Sophie McGowan broke Montana Federation of Swimmers records in both the medley and freestyle relays. They were timed at 1:19.53 in the 100-meter freestyle and
1:34.38 in the 100-meter medley.
Hansen was a High-Point winner in the 8 and under division, placing first in the
100-meter IM, 25-meter breaststroke and 25-meter butterfly for a perfect individual score of 42, the latter race being a new Sidney pool record.
Others posting big individual numbers included:
8-year-old Weston Hardy with 36 points; 8-year-old Nolan Kimball 29; 16-yearold Tristan Lekvold 25;
12-year-old Siri Moran 25;
11-year-old Easton Fladager
24; 15-year-old Aydan Stentoft 23.
Also competing in the state meet for the Stingrays who are not listed in the results due to not advancing out of the individual preliminary races and into the finals include: 9-year-old Zella Maldonado, 7-yearold Joshua Manternach and
11-year-old Arayah Stentoft.
