Things are winding down for the Scobey High School cross county teams as only two regular-season meets remain on the schedule before heading west to Missoula for the All-Class State Meet.

On the docket this Saturday (Oct. 12) is the Sidney Invitational on the Sidney Country Club Golf Course. Runners may take a selfguided walk of the course starting at 9 a.m. The first race is the varsity girls/junior varsity girls at 10 a.m., which is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). It will be followed by the varsity boys/JV boys (5K), elementary race (4th and 5th graders) with the boys and girls combined (2.5K), middle school girls (2.5K) and middle school boys (2.5K).

Awards will be given to the top 10 places in the high school boys/girls and middle school boys/girls.

Long and tough explains this cross country course on the 18-hole golf course. It features a one-half-mile long graddual hill at the start. It’s a longer-than-normal course with challenging terrain and hilly conditions, a mix of flat terrain with hairpin turns and a challenging hill dropping to a long finish.
