Scobey Girls Take Wildcats Into Overtime In Tight 44-40 Setback
The Scobey varsity girls’ basketball team pushed the visiting Plentywood Wildcats to the brink Friday the 13th in the Spartans’ homegym opener but the visitors quickly found the formula down the home stretch to secure the W.
It was so tight the contest needed a 4-minute overtime to determine the winner in the 44-40 final.
Scobey took the early lead at 4-0 and led by as much as 9-4 on Kennadi Cromwell’s 3-point field goal from the baseline. By the end of the initial quarter, though, the Wildcats were within two points.
Plentywood took its first advantage at 10-9 when senior Jaimison Soderquist sank a 3-point field goal with just over six minutes left in the second period. Baskets by junior Camrie Holum and eighth grader Emery Rouse put the home team back on top but senior Mallory Tommerup’s trey knotted the action at 13-all.
