The Scobey High School varsity boys’ basketball team was allowed to open one of its Christmas presents early in this 2024-25 season.

With an on-the-road 5741 victory over a scrappy Circle Wildcats team in Round Town Saturday night (12-21-2024), the Spartans (5-0, 344-170, 68.8-34.0) take an undefeated overall record into the holiday break.

The Wildcats (5-1, 318269, 53.0-44.8) took their one and only lead when Tripp Wahl sank a free throw for a 1-0 advantage. From there it stayed close within four points in the first quarter as Bram Handran used a John Carney assist and later hit a trailer layup making it 6-2.

Carney made a fast-break layup and two other field goals while Cooper Axtman tallied a 2-pointer for a 12-10 lead through the first quarter, which was a fast one at just 11 minutes.

The Wildcats created the only tie of the game at 12 but Scobey took the lead for good when Reese Tande buried a left-wing 3-point field goal making it 15-12. Three-pointers by Carney and Tande put the Spartans a...
