UP TO EIGHT TIMBER BRIDGES TO BE REPLACED IN NORTHEASTERN MONTANA IN 2024 The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Sletten Construction plan to replace up to eight timber bridges this year. The bridges are located on US Highway 2 (US 2), Montana Highway 248 (MT 248), Montana Highway 251 (MT 251), and Montana Highway 24 (MT 24). Detours will be constructed next to the existing structure at all project sites. Trac control will be on-site, and reduced speed limits and shoulder closures will be in place throughout construction zones. Drivers should anticipate short travel delays. All work is dependent on weather and other unforeseen factors, and will start with detour construction to replace the East Fork Cherry Creek Bridge on MT 24, six miles north of Glasgow. Replacement of Buggy Creek Bridge on US 2, 12 miles northwest of Glasgow will also begin. Trac will be moved onto the detour the week of March 3. The single-lane detour has a width restriction of 16 feet. Large vehicles must use an alternate route. These bridge replacements are part of the Timber Bridges-Glasgow Area project that replaced seven bridges in the region in 2023. For the latest project information and a list of the bridges being replaced and their locations, visit www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/glasgowtb/.
