SILVER STAR I NSURANCE It’s already been nearly 10 years since Morgan Lekvold (SHS ‘98) and Matt Stentoft (SHS ‘99) purchased Lekvold and Associates from Don Lekvold, Morgan’s father, the deal becoming official on January 1, 2015. With the purchase came a name change, the two new business owners tapping into family history and heritage and calling their new venture Silver Star Insurance. The Silver Star community is located about 15 miles south of Scobey where the Lekvolds and Stentofts and others homesteaded back in the early 1900s to begin farming operations. Don and his wife JoAnn moved to Scobey in 1976 and Don started Lekvold and Associates in 1991. Morgan, who is married to Michelene (SHS ‘03, nee: Handran) and have four children, joined the firm in 2010. She’s married to Jedd Lekvold (SHS ‘99), Morgan’s brother, and they have four children. She stays busy outside the office by being a member of the Scobey Alumni Foundation Inc. board and following her children’s activities. The newest member of the Silver Star Insurance team is Ashton Handy, a 2016 graduate of Culbertson High School. She attended Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming, earning an Associate Degree in Agricultural Business. She then attended Dickinson State University in southwest North Dakota, earning a Bachelor degree in Ag Business. She currently helps coach the Scobey chapter of Future Farmers of America livestock judging team. She is also an assistant coach with the Scobey High School girls’ basketball program.
